The Challenge

Publio.pl is an online bookstore owned by Agora, offering e-books, audiobooks, and digital press. Its catalog includes over 72,000 titles. Launched in 2012, the platform underwent a comprehensive digital transformation in 2020. This transformation resulted in the implementation of a modern headless e-commerce platform, fully optimized for mobile devices.

Since this pivotal moment, Publio.pl has continued to grow, maintaining a long-standing partnership with the Univio team. Our collaboration, which encompasses the development and optimization of the platform, has spanned over a decade, providing a solid foundation for the platform’s ongoing success.

One of the elements of our cooperation was to adapt the platform to the Omnibus directive to ensure price transparency and historical data on promotions in accordance with regulations.

It was necessary to modernize payment methods and provide customers with convenient and modern ways to pay for purchases.

  • Streamlining the shopping path and redesigning the shopping interface required the client to perform a UX/UI analysis and then Univio's team to implement the changes without disruption to users.
  • Adapting to the new image file standards required converting existing resources and implementing solutions to minimize server load.
  • Changes had to be made to the platform infrastructure to ensure scalability and better performance of the solution.
  • The process of rebranding the site required updating all terms and conditions, as well as legal and visual materials.
  • The existing customer base was not segmented to personalize marketing efforts, making it difficult to increase the frequency and regularity of purchases.

"As always, the Univio team rose to the challenge. Due to the Omnibus Directive, the deadline for implementing the changes was legally mandated, meaning it had to be met regardless of the complexity of the task. The goal was achieved ahead of schedule, allowing ample time for thorough testing and a seamless production deployment at a convenient moment for all parties involved."

The Solution

  • We implemented functionality in the application that automatically saves product prices and presents customers with the lowest price from the last 30 days. This enabled full compliance with the Omnibus directive and increased transparency for customers.
  • We implemented integration with PayU, including fast bank transfers and BLIK payments, which significantly streamlined the transaction process and provided users with access to modern and convenient forms of payment.
  • We performed a comprehensive redesign of the shopping path, making the shopping process more intuitive, visually friendly and increasing conversion.
  • We migrated to modern servers, which increased the scalability and reliability of the platform, while enabling it to handle more traffic and more advanced functionality.
  • Based on a customer segmentation audit, different communication strategies were prepared for different audiences, making marketing activities more effective.
  • The implemented recommendation system also allows maximizing the value of orders through precise personalization of offers and promotions.
  • The Univio team regularly supports the client in ongoing activities. Thanks to successful cooperation and a flexible approach to changing market conditions, it is possible to respond quickly to business needs.
  • The team is also responsible for constantly raising the standards of the site’s loading speed and performance.

"I would also like to highlight the immense importance of the engagement of individual Univio team membersboth developers and those responsible for tasks such as migrating the platform to a new infrastructure. This was a multi-stage project, requiring several months of work, meticulous configurations, extensive testing, and detailed coordination between the IT teams of Univio and Agora. Despite being labor-intensive and lengthy, the migration process was ultimately a success. It was virtually unnoticeable to customers and has provided us with increased business scalability and a strong sense of securityan aspect also ensured by Univio’s dedicated team of administrators."
